Cakes don’t have to look good to be tasty. But when they do, it makes them really special and worth of admiration. One of such cakes was recently made by university student and amateur baker Rin.

Rin shared her newest dessert creation that could rightfully be considered as an art piece. She made a cheesecake featuring a lively scene of capybaras bathing in Japanese hot springs (onsen) while being surrounded by oranges, vegetation, and rocks. According to Rin, the scene was inspired by real-life as capybaras soaking in an onsen is a familiar sight in Japan.

Rin’s creation generated a lot of attention, with social media users praising her impressive cake and cooking skills. This prompted her to make another similar cake with an updated scene that featured a duck and an adorable chubby bird. She also has plans to make other cakes with similar scenes from nature, and we can’t wait.

If you fell in love with this cake and would like to try it, we have some great news for you. Inspired by the positive reactions, Rin made a tutorial with detailed instructions on making her Capybara Hot Springs cake.

The recipe is quite simple and doesn’t require baking. Check it out below.

Based in Lima, Peru, Jose’s all-vegan desserts include cakes, brownies, ice cream, smoothies, and toast, all beautifully styled and using only natural ingredients. These ingredients include mango, berries, beetroots, acai powder, pink pitaya, and spirulina, which add a colorful dimension to his creations.

“I ate animal products for 90 percent of my life, and meat was my favorite thing in the world,” Jose recalled in an interview with Daily Mail Online. “But I was struggling with eating disorders and an unhealthy low-weight.”

“I searched for lots of diets online and then the vegan diet popped up,” he added. “I saw how lots of vegans ate a lot and followed a high-carb diet but still had a perfect fit body, so I started eating less animal products and decided to inform myself about veganism. That is when everything changed and I learned that veganism is a lot more than a diet, it is a lifestyle. Soon after, I made the decision to become vegan. I was no longer looking to lose more weight, but to stop supporting all forms of animal cruelty.”

Each dessert he posts is accompanied by a list of ingredients, challenging his fans to recreate his recipes. His dishes are also very much Instagramable, using props like shells and animal shapes which are all edible. His creations also have a humoristic edge to them, with the occasional pop-culture reference.

Take a look at some of his mouthwatering creations.

New Zealand-based foodie, Hazel Zakariya, found creative inspiration in the form of a smoothie. “I’ve rediscovered my love for painting and drawing,” she remarked in an interview with Martha Stewart, “and it’s great to create art that is edible and tasty too. My husband and I share them as a treat.”

According to Zakariya, she was inspired to create her smoothie artworks after messing up the topping on a bowl of butternut squash soup. When her swirls didn’t come out properly, she turned them into a tree and continued experimenting from there.

A market analyst by day, she tends to her food creations on her time off. But unlike regular painting, her food art doesn’t require any brushes, just wooden skewers, and a table knife. While the smoothies are made of cream, milk, fruits, and berries, the drawings are painted with coconut cream, almond milk, spices, herbs, and vegetable powders. The result is both playful and tasty.

Her smoothie paintings include renditions of pop culture icons as well as animals and cartoons. “It’s become a fun platform for me to express and challenge myself creatively,” says Zakariya. “Personally, it’s also a great mindfulness practice. And smoothies are a good way to enjoy more fruits and vegetables.”
