Where most artists take inspiration from the objects around them, one illustrator gets her ideas from the words that dictate our everyday lives. More specifically, puns and irony are really what Daukantė loves to base her artwork on.

This Lithuania-based artist combines the comedic nature of the world around us and the vibrancy of colors to bring us gorgeous works that make us laugh.

“Often an idea for a drawing comes from a pun I enjoy. Being visually-minded, I have a soft spot for words. Words tend to suggest a narrative that I happily build on throughout my process,” Daukantė explains on her website.

Usually with a title in mind, the idea presents itself to her, which she takes and runs with it. “ I find it very difficult to start drawing without a clear idea or a name. Having said that, the drawing almost never turns out the way I predicted, but at least I have a clear process in the beginning,” Daukantė told Bored Panda.

In addition, popular culture is another space that seems to breed creativity for Daukantė, who is gifted in finding the absurdity in pop culture and turning them into drawings for everyone to enjoy, such as her drawings of “The Braiding Bunch” or “The Taking Tree.”

With two degrees in design, and years of experience, this artist has even begun to add more to her portfolio, with the addition of ceramics, prints, and even Christmas Ornaments. Visit her website to see the full range of awesome work she’s put out.
