Art has the power to inspire us to hold a mirror up to ourselves and truly reflect on what makes us the way we are. Kat Schneider’s illustrations are a case in point, and they perfectly capture all those hidden thoughts that we’re keeping from everyone – sometimes even ourselves.
Schneider is a freelance illustrator, comics artist, and printmaker from New Jersey, who used the power of social media to share her work with the world. Her comics helped her attract over 60,000 followers to her Instagram page, and she also worked with major publications over the years, including The New York Times and The Washington Post.
Schneider describes her illustrations as “embarrassingly earnest”, and most of them focus on little ups and downs of daily life. She enjoys exploring the themes of magic, heartache, and coming-of-age, and her comics will make you feel seen because they do a great conveying the thoughts that went through all of our heads at one point in life.
In addition to sharing her work on social media and working with several major brands, Schneider is busy plotting her debut graphic novel. I’d Like You to Like Me will be published by Random House, and she says it felt like a natural next step in her progression as an artist.
