]]> Have you ever wondered how the letters of the English alphabet got their shape? It is a compilation of interesting stories, and you can hear them all thanks to an educational video by YouTube content creator Olly Richards.

In a video shared on YouTube a while back, Richards went through the origins of each letter used in the English alphabet while sharing all sorts of cool and interesting facts.

For example, the letter “A” originated from the Phoenician alphabet. It was originally turned sideways or upside down while its shape resembled one of an ox head.

The letter “R” has its origins in Ancient Egypt, where it mimicked the profile of a human head and was pronounced “resh,” which meant “head.” The Greeks and the Romans later modified the letter to suit their needs and gave it its current shape.

Also, there are five letters in the English alphabet that can trace their shape from the same letter. To find them out and learn more about the letters you use every day, check out Richards’ video below.

]]> Finding a safe and loving home for rescue dogs isn’t an easy task, but Wesley Swainston came up with a creative way to help his local shelter. He’s an active-duty marine who found viral fame after he started taking shelter dogs on runs in an attempt to change the way people see them.

Swainston is an active-duty marine, who enjoys spending all the free time he has on his hands around dogs. In addition to having two pets of his own, he’s a volunteer at Adoption First near Jacksonville, Florida, and has also taken part in a mentorship program for dog training in San Antonio, Texas.

Swainston started taking shelter dogs on runs in late 2023 and quickly realized this provided them with more than mere physical activity. Regular runs helped fearful dogs open up, making it easier for them to get adopted after Swainston showcased their adorable personalities on social media.

One of his most popular videos saw Swainston training for a marathon by running 26 miles, each with a different rescue dog. He’s hoping his videos will change the way people look at shelter dogs and make them realize they can adapt to pretty much anything if you treat them with enough love and care.

]]> Creativity and talent can lead to amazing things, and the works of British artist Jane Perkins provide a great example of this with her amazing recreations of famous paintings made with everyday objects.

Perkins uses beads, broken jewelry, key chains, pins, and buttons, among others, but doesn’t paint or modify objects in any way. Still, she manages to make her versions of Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss,” or Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” look surprisingly close to the original.

Objects found in Perkins’ works are sourced from all sorts of places. She visits flea markets and antique shops in search of objects that fit her vision, while her social media followers also pitch in by donating objects they no longer need.

“I am a ‘re-maker’, taking inspiration from found objects and working them into something new. I love art with an element of fun and the unexpected, and hope my work will make you smile!,” Perkins shares on her website.

Nikita Golubev is a talented artist who creates oil paintings, street art, and book illustrations. However, the thing that made him famous, at least on social media, is his “Dirty Car Art “project.

Golubev is using dirty cars as a blank canvas and creating awesome artworks on them. When he sees a vehicle or car that hasn’t been washed in a while, he takes the opportunity to create an ephemeral “painting.”

The subjects of his artworks vary from the size of the “canvas” and inspiration of the moment but include scenes from movies, animal portraits, surreal scenes, and much more.

One impressive thing about Golubev’s “Dirty Car Art” is that he creates each piece using his fingers, albeit covered in gloves. Despite this, he manages to pack an amazing amount of details into the artwork and make viewers taken aback once they encounter them.
